Rice Pilaf With Peas
Made Easy Using A-RO-MA Masala Packs
This dish is very easy to make and it is very distinctive in flavor. Basmati rice combined with peas, and herbs and spices is a great side dish with chicken, fish or any other kinds of meat.
One can add nuts to make a suitable dish for vegetarians and vegans.
This Rice Pilaf recipe yields an aromatic Indian side dish that you and your guests will love. The recipe is simple and easy to make, and best of all, all of the spices and basmati rice is included in the A-RO-MA packs.
This recipe is VEGETARIAN, VEGAN, NON-DAIRY AND SPICES HAVE NO ADDED GLUTEN.
NOTES: If you wish, you can replace the oil in this recipe with margarine or butter, but no other substitutions are recommended. The A-RO-MA masala packs can be stored in a cool dry place up to 6 months to retain freshness.

STEP 1: Saute onions using “A” spice pack
¼ cup cooking oil
1 pk “A” spice pack
1 cup onions, sliced
Heat the oil in a heavy bottomed saucepan or nonstick large frying pan on medium heat and add “A” spice pack and brown the seeds until they crackle.
Add sliced onions and keep frying until they start to slightly brown.
STEP 2: Aroma Rice using “RO” spice pack
1 pk “RO” spice pack
1 ½ cups peas, fresh or frozen thawed
2 ½ cups hot tap water
Add “RO” spice pack and peas to slightly browned onions, mix well keep frying for a minute on medium heat.
Add water, cover, turn heat to high and bring the water to boil.
STEP 3: Cooking rice using “MA” Rice pack
1 pk “MA” rice pack
Wash and drain rice well with lukewarm water a few times until the water is not too cloudy.
Add clean drained rice to the boiling water and mix well. Turn the heat to medium low. Cover and cook for about 20 minutes. Once cooked, uncover and stir with fork and let it sit partially covered for about 5 minutes or so before serving.
Serving Recommendations
Serve hot, accompanied with your favorite Ashi’s Rasoi Indian dish, chicken, fish, lamb, beef curry, spiced vegetables, lentils or raita.
